Gujarat: ‘36,000km fibre network by March’
AHMEDABAD: To provide high-speed internet connectivity to thousands of villagers, the “An optical of 36,000km will be laid in Gujarat in the second phase, or ‘BharatNet 2’. Some 20,000km of fibre has been laid. We aim to finish the remaining 16,000km by March 2020,” said Dharmendra Sharma, director, technical and infrastructure (ITS), Gujarat Fibre Grid Network Ltd (GFGNL).

AHMEDABAD: India’s Gujarat is expecting to complete the digital infrastructure initiative to offer 1 Gbps Internet by March next year, and has so far deployed 18,000 kilometre of optic-fibre cable (OFC) in a record time of 10 months with a consortium of GTPL Hathway and Polycab India Limited as well as state-owned Indian Telephone Industries (ITI) as implementing partners.
